House Democrats Want To Raise Your Taxes To Expand Healthcare for Illegal Immigrants

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

House Republicans began the week knowing all too well that the Dems would do all they could to bring the SCHIP bill to the floor before Congress recesses for August.

The SCHIP (State Children’s Healthcare Plan) bill represents the first step towards establishing Washington-based bureaucrat-controlled healthcare for all Americans.  The bill would increased eligibility to families with children making 400% of poverty (approx $82,000/yr.), and is paid for by billions of dollars in cuts to Medicare for seniors and taxes on all health insurance policies.

As if that isn’t enough, the Democrats are also proposing to lift the citizenship requirement for SCHIP eligibility!  In other words, under this proposal, the Democrats will allow taxpayer dollars to be used to provide healthcare to illegal immigrants.

Tonight, House Republicans responded to this outrage by manning a protest through debate on the House floor, and the Democrats responded by adjourning for the evening.  Rest assured, we’ll be back for more excitement tomorrow, resuming the fight to stop taxpayer dollars from being used to fund healthcare for illegal immigrants.
