Standing in Support of our Troops

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

The House Democrats desperately wanted to avoid this vote. When the honor of our troops is on the line, we just couldn’t let them get away with it. And so, today, House Republicans offered a motion to recommit that forced the entire House to hold an up-or-down vote. Do they condemn the sentiment of the recent MoveOn.org ad that questioned the patriotism of General Petraeus? Will House Democrats support their narrow special interests, or will they support our nation’s troops?

Stay tuned for updates.

UPDATE:146 Democrats voted to condemn MoveOn.org and 79 Democrats voted for MoveOn.org’s efforts against our troops.

UPDATE:The AP has published a story on what happened today on the floor, click here to read it.

Richmond is Great for Business

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

The Richmond Times-Dispatch has a great article today on Richmond's incredible business climate; ranking the city as the third best city in the country for business. Here's an excerpt:

"Virginia and the Richmond area have placed high on other recent national rankings for business climate, but the MarketWatch ranking is a big deal because it looked purely at factors that are important to businesses that are considering relocation or expansion, said Gregory H. Wingfield, president of the Greater Richmond Partnership."

The Young Guns of the House GOP

Monday, September 24th, 2007

Eric is featured on the cover of the October 1 issue of the Weekly Standard, under the headline "Young Guns of the House GOP" with Paul Ryan and Kevin McCarthy. Fred Barnes writes a great article about Eric, here's an excerpt:

"The party has an impressive group of young guns (members under 45) and, fortunately for Republicans, their ranks weren't depleted in the disastrous 2006 election. Of the group, Cantor is furthest along the leadership track. To use a sports analogy, he's the most valuable player."
