Gimme an ‘M’

Friday, April 25th, 2008

Rich Cohen profiled Eric Cantor for the latest edition of the National Journal

“44-year-old first elected to the House in 2000, is emerging as his chamber’s most outspoken and active supporter of Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign. The only Jewish Republican in the House, Cantor has assumed a pivotal role in helping the McCain campaign build support—and raise money—in the Jewish community. And Cantor quite likely has his sights set even higher. As chief deputy whip for House Republicans, Cantor is a party stalwart and conservative leader.”

Cantor Tapped for McCain Outreach Chair

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

As Chairman of the 2008 Victory Jewish Coalition, Eric Cantor will lead outreach efforts to the Jewish community on behalf of Senator John McCain and the RNC. Fred Zeidman will serve as Co-Chair.

“Senator McCain has a long and proud pro-Israel record, and he understands that as one of our nation’s closest allies, Israel deserves our aid and support. Eric and Fred will play a critical role in sharing John McCain’s message, record, and vision with the Jewish community,” said Lew Eisenberg, Victory 2008 Finance Chairman.

RTD Op/Ed: McCain- Cantor? That’s the Winning Ticket

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

In case you missed it, Bob Rayner had some nice things to say about Eric Cantor today.

“As a member of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee, Cantor brings the clout and experience on economic and tax issues that many believe McCain lacks. He was a businessman before being elected to the House in 2000 and has been an eloquent spokesman for pro-growth policies ever since.”

Cantor Op/Ed at NRO

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

Read Eric Cantor’s op/ed in today’s National Review Online on former President Carter’s tragic misjudgment.

“By rewarding Meshaal with a face-to-face meeting, former President Carter has undermined the international community’s effort. The day that Palestinians have leaders who want peace has been pushed back. Without lifting a finger to moderate his stand, Meshaal — Hamas’s most radical voice — has won an unexpected gift: The photo-op with President Carter strengthens the notion that Hamas’s bloodthirsty outlook represents a viable path for the Palestinian people.”

House Democrats Violate Rules…again

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

There was some added drama on the House floor earlier tonight. A bill brought to the
floor that would have denied municipal tax benefits for sanctuary cities was left open far too long so that House Democrats could gain enough votes to stop the measure. Democrats again violated their own rules—this time, it was to extend yet another welcome mat to illegal immigrants. If the vote would have been called correctly, the measure would have passed and Congress would have taken a necessary step to insist that our nation’s laws be enforced, and that taxpayer dollars not be used by any locality to thwart the law.
