House Democrats Just Blinked

House Democrats wanted to change the rules to make it easier to raise taxes.  They wanted to hide their Members from a direct vote on the tough issues.  They wanted to change rules on minority floor rights that have been in place since 1822.  They failed.

Today, House Republicans stood united and successfully fought against the House Democrats’ ill-advised rule changes, by reducing all business on the House Floor to a crawl.  We used a creative set of motions and other parliamentary techniques to bring the fight.

In the end, House Democrats lost and the American People won.

DUers are now claiming that this never happened and that there is no proof that Pelosi and the gang actually tried to do this. Where’s the proof that this actually happened? Thanks!

  15. Anarchy2Day Says:
Nice move by the GOP. Too bad they only show some gumption when their own power is under attack. If they used as much gumption defending the citizens, I’d still be one of them. No worries, I’m not a democrat or libertarian either. I simply don’t vote anymore. Very few politicians are worthy of receiving my vote and none of them are in my district.

  16. Tony Taddeo Says:
Although not surprising, Speaker Pelosi’s attempt to stifle vigorous debate on critical issues smacks of the same liberal, elitist, “We know what’s best for you, so shut up!” mindset that has all but completely repressed free speech and debate on most college campuses today. Thank Goodness for the Internet and the non-traditional (read: not mainstream) media, otherwise, we could all be paying higher taxes.

Kudos to Congressman Cantor and the brave Republicans that thwarted the Democrats’ bid to turn the U.S. Congress into nothing better than the Supreme Soviet of the U.S.S.R. The Dems are sore losers, so (metaphorically speaking), watch your back – they’ll come at you (and our wallets) again.

If a Representative is not willing to put her vote on record she has no business in the House. Nancy Pelosi’s constituency should recall her.

We know that Kennedy is looking to have that as part of an amnesty plan for illegal aliens.

Great job but GOP representative with backbone. I hope the House GOP conservatives can use these tactics and peel off some Blue Dog Democrats to block the Bush, Teddy, Senate Amnesty.

  32. Michael Says:
Speaking of Blue Dog Democrats, I KNOW you can count on Gene Taylor (D.-MS), my representative from District 4. I didn’t get through to him today, but I have a good feeling he was not supportive of the House Speaker. I also know he’s very strong on enforcement. Read his record at:(http://grades.betterimmigration.com/testgrades.php3?District=MS04&VIPID=475)

Keep up the press in the House!

LOL! Imagine the owners of the NY Yankees, facing continual stinging defeat (a fantasy, I know) by the Red Sox, seeking to change the rules of the game! Pelosi has just signaled her weakness and poured her own political blood into the waters. Just you wait: some more rabid Dhimmicrat shark will challenge her “leadership” and lead these ass-clowns farther to the left.
