When I listen to Congressman Cantor, I can’t help but denounce myself as a Democrat, and feel like a part of the Republican Party. I am poor, I am on permanant disability, and currently fighting to get my Social Security benefits, which I’ve paid into, and I’ve earned. You would think that in my situation, I could never side with Cantor.

Any American with any intelligence what-so-ever knows that if you buy something on credit, eventually the bill will come due. That’s what Cantor is saying, we have to pay the bill. At the same time, he supports our troops (G-D bless each and everyone of them), and wants to cut the over-spending in programs that aren’t as crucial. 99 weeks of unemployment? That’s insane. Lots of people would like to take 2 years off from working. When I gave birth, unemployment was 26 weeks, and you had to prove that you were job hunting. There are lots of jobs out there, but there are too many people that think they are above doing them. My son’s friend got a job, paying $15 an hour to clean the park. He did this part time in addition to working with my son. My son immediately asked if they were looking for any more help. Unfortunately, they were only looking for “Full-Time” people, so that eventually they could have supervisors trained. I’m sorry, if you’re living off of the governments unemployment, and there is a job paying $15 an hour for a 40 hour week, that’s $600 a week, including benefits. Wake up people…a job is a job.

I am so proud to have Eric Cantor represent me ! Thank you for looking out for the American people and let’s hope you can stop this run away spending train in Congress real soon!

  4. jack Zirpoli Says:
Thank you Congressman Cantor you’re on the right track. Now, if you can get HVCC terminated you would be Superman. Look up Cuomo’s Crossing to see how HVCC has devistated Appraisers, Realitors and home owners.

    Congressman Cantor :

RE : Slash Government Spending to the bone — NOW !!!

Thank you for your continued efforts to Reduce Government Spending
and Waste. Please Keep it up, we need your efforts to succeed.
1.) Eliminate All Pork Barrel Projects,
2.) Open up Drilling all over the USA, you raise money by selling off leases,
collect taxes on the production, lower the cost of energy by increasing
the supply of energy, — a rising tide lifts all boats….
We have so many natural energy resources available in the USA, that we
could easily become a net energy exporter….Government is preventing us
    from USA Energy Independance.
3.) Energy Independence will drastically reduce or eliminate our trade deficit.
4.) Lower energy costs makes our products more competitive.

  6. Haymarket Mom & Grandmother Says:
I’m fed up with the Democrats claiming that the Republicans offer no ideas. The Democrats are deaf, dumb, and just plain ignorant. They don’t care; they’re just trying to ram thru as much socialist packages and increase spending because they know their days are numbered. They are ruining this country. Call the spending to an end; support out troops, national defense and national security. Cut all agencies at least 10-12% across the board and lets get out of this mess. Please don’t send this bill on to generations who don’t even exist today.

  7. Gary Baldwin Says:
Great idea! Stick with it; our present course terrifies me!

  8. Ronald Harris Says:
    Congressman Cantor,
I agree with you , we need to start living within our means, you/we can’t spend out selves out of debt and to try to do so is absolutly foolish.

  9. michael parrish Says:
stop the insanity!!!!!!!!!!!!!! please stop all unfunded spending!

  10. Nan Rowe Says:
Thank you Congressman Cantor for trying to work with people who has no idea what is going on in our Country(If it is still our country).

  11. Ruben Toyos Says:
Are we better off than we were four years ago? No. Remember when unemployment was only 3.6 percent? Remember when we didn’t have to worry about inflation? Remember when the government didn’t spend “a trillion dollars here and a trillion dollars there?”

  12. Elizabeth Holcomb Says:
I agree with you Congressman Cantor. The economy is correcting itself and deflating. Everyone is resorting to paying in cash. American families have cut way back to basics only. Private business employees have lost their jobs, or have taken unpaid furlows, or have worked long hours for free, “in order to keep the doors open” on a business. This is the time we are all called to tighten our belts, and I believe the government employees are no different.

  13. Normn Says:
It is my opinion this is another step in the effort to take over our country by the Socialists. Remember the Russian dictator banging a shoe on a lecturn in the 1950’s and commenting “we will take you over from within”. For years Socialists have been taking over the colleges in America and educating our children in their mind set.
It is time we took a stand and with determination unflinchingly take back our nation! The health care bill has to go! Our borders have to be closed! We must follow the law and any illegals in our country dealt with iron fist style! It is no time to be willy nilly, there are only two lines to follow, right and wrong!! The Constitution should be followed word for word.
This thing of interpretation by tainted jurists is a major problem. We cannot accept opinions driven by what someone feels, the WORD is the WORD.
I am armed and ready. (armed= a clear understanding of the problems now and ahead)

  14. Joan Shoemaker Says:
    Mr. Cantor,
You are right on the money. We are tired of having to prop up everything in America, especially at the whims of the legislature, when we are cutting in every way possible out here in the real, private world. I’ve always made it a personal policy to never ask anyone to do what I would not be willing to do myself. Oh, would Congress PLEASE do the same? The Democrats act as if it’s their own money to give away when in fact, it’s the people’s hard earned money. Make the deep cuts… cut unnecessary government raises, positions, programs, and treat it like it’s your paycheck that you’re spending. We, the people, are angrier by the day. The Democrats have no idea how angry, but they will find out in November! Oh, if only it were a presidential election year! But that’s coming, too, just not soon enough. I hope we’ll still have something left of my country when his term is up!

We appreciate you and the Republican Party standing up for us. Please hold fast and remember that we’ll send you a lot of conservatives come November to help you out! We want BIG CHANGE and if the Republicans cannot get the job done, we’ll keep voting people out until we find representatives who will!

Again, thank you for being the voice of sanity.
    Godspeed…

  15. Rev. Munir S. Eways Says:
I am a Virginian and am proud that Eric Cantor is from my state. Like many others in Va. we are a retired couple that has learned to budget and live within our new and lower income. Why can’t Federal employees who get paid far more then their counterparts in the private sector do the same. Not forever, just until we get the budget under control.

I hope Mr Cantor will continue to fight this up hill battle.

  16. Graydon Gaines Says:
Those of us here in the real world don’t look to see how much money a congressman brings to our area (some do but most don’t), we want to see strong representatives stop the spending. Go get them Mr. Cantor

  17. Adrian Says:
I am sorry to discover that Republicans have asked Rep. Barton to apologize for referring to the Administration’s actions for what they are, a shakedown, and that some have even suggested punishment. I applaud Rep. Barton for having the courage to ask such a pertinent question. Someone has to question what this administration does; their carte blanch is getting old. The small people, which I don’t mind being called, need someone to stand up and act like unabashed, fearless conservatives who value free markets and free enterprise.
