I would divided the stimulus package into tranches. Each tranche would be approved over time to allow for dilberation on the details. If the $700 billion bail-out taught us anything was that if money is thrown at a problem, it usually is wasted.

Balancing the budget and keeping Government at an unintrusive and efficient level is the backbone of conservatism. In regards to this, departments and programs that are of the same general catagory should be consolidated and streamlined. For example, the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Veteren’s Affairs could be combined under one department. This would hopefully cut down the cost and size allowing them to get their job done better, faster and cheaper.

Require that every bill be posted online for at least two weeks before any vote on the bill. That gives the public time to scour the bill for awful items that all too often are snuck in at the last minute.

Refrain from promoting Representatives who have a history of corruption (or are surrounded by suspicion of corruption), and remove those who are potentially corrupt from their plum committee assignments.

If we as conservatives are to get ourselves back into a position from which we can make a difference, and apply the solutions discussed on this site, then we must make sure our own house is clean.
