This country was created by immigrants, from the first member of the Virginia Company of London who stepped ashore in Jamestown in 1607 to the most recent recipient of an official visa issued for legal immigration. Our laws encourage legal immigration. We enjoy the benefits of its diversity!
However, our local laws and enforcement actions should prevent illegal immigrants from crossing our borders. Research reports $90 billion a year is spent on illegal aliens for welfare and social services paid for by American taxpayers.
Legal immigrants make a pledge to uphold our laws and support their new country. Legal immigrants make learning English a primary goal in their new American homes. Legal immigrants strive to give their children a new life and encourage them to assimilate into our culture.
Individual states must begin to examine new legal ways to protect their citizens from this invasion. I would suggest attaching a fee of 10 percent to 15 percent to every money order or wire transfer purchased by an illegal immigrant without a foreign or domestic passport, a legal VISA or MasterCard, a Virginia birth certificate, a legitimate state driver’s license, or a verifiable, valid Social Security card.
Fees collected would be retained by the county of origin for distribution to school boards, sheriff’s departments, and hospitals.

vaadman- Why would you just charge a fee to someone who is undocumented standing in front of you. The real solution would be to call ICE immediately. Sheesh, that’s why people think the illegals cannot be rounded up!

The problem is the illegals can get these documents easier than legal citizens. ALL and any money transfer should be taxed. This would compensate in part for the taxes the illegals do not pay.

I am very nervous at what the elites have in mind for the future of this country. I feel that the very lax attitude as well as the suport of too many of our legislators have for the illegal immigrnts supports this fear. We have too many people in government and the judicial system from an era when a large segment of our generation was very anti american. I think that they were a very narcistic generation with little or no regard for our constitution and our laws. I would like to hear from some politicians who apose the North American Union and open borders at both ends of our country. The idea that we will eventually become a one world society with te United Nations as the governing body for all is frightening. I think this immigration problem is part of that plan. I would hope many people would stand up and talk about this probability. Only vocal americans can prevent it, I hope.

First priority is that we must stop illegals from entering our country. Then we must make sure our laws are enforced and anyone who encounters an illegal must make every effort to contact the proper authority who should deport them. If they do not assist authorities, hold these folks accountable for aiding these illegals. (Through fines/jail time ). Emergency services , such as hospital/medical care should not be withheld from illegals but all such costs should be billed to the country they left , as that country should be responsible for such costs. (Assuming the individual is unable to pay).

I like the idea, but would suggest that the money collected be used to secure our borders - get the fence built, etc.

Nice try but no cigar!!!
Wouldn’t this just give the government a financial incentive for the transfer of funds by illegals to continue?
If illegals stop coming here and stop wiring their money home that source of revenue would be lost to the government.
So why would the government want the practice to stop? They’d be profiting from the activity.
How about we concentrate on
a) actually building the fence
b) actually enforcing the border (I live in San Diego don’t tell me we’re serious about it — WE ARE NOT!)
c) enforcing workplace sanctions
d) cutting off Fed funds to “Sanctuary Cities” that violate Fed statutes
e) backing our Border Patrol Agents — release Ramos and Campion NOW!!!

Good idea, just round them up.
BUT, if and when that can not be done, charge a fee. The FairTax, (I know I talk to much about it) would address this by adding a service fee to the transfer. Illergals would be paying the same tax as everyone else. So until we can round them up and send them home, tax them like everyone else.

Bi-prtison politics have NO meaning any more. We are in a world of hurt and you guys are pointing fingers. Why not get together and try for a consensus. If anyone disagrees, publish the names of those who disagree with the right thing so their constituents will know who is blocking progress. You’ve got to stop the bickering and do what’s best for the citizens of the USA. Drill here, drill now… Stop paying for illegal immigrants. Make crossing the border illegally a felony instead of a civil crime. DO SOMETHING instead of sitting on your haunches waiting to point fingers at the dems. DO SOMETHING, PLEASE!!!

Republicans have most always stood for smaller gov’t, less taxes, less spending, some morals, etc. However when they were in control they spent money in a very irresponsible way, earmarks! Voted for larger gov’t with some of the programs they supported, some went morally downhill. Now we need to rebuild and return to what built our party, not try to be democrats. I suggest we come out strong and honest on the gas crisis. Ethanol takes 1.5 gallons of diesel to produce 1 gallon, open Alaska and off shore up, take away some oil company tax incentives, they are making enough. Strengthen the borders, allow and encourage legal workers from Latin America, we need them. I deal with Russians a lot, like them and appreciate them, the anti Russian rhetoric is not good for relations. I also know quite well some higher ups in the Arab world, democracy will not work with most of them, capitalism and western friendliness will. We need to change our approach.

I just don’t understand why the government doesn’t get out the dictionary and look up the definition of illegal. It is illegal to shoplift, do it and you go to jail, it is illegal to break and enter a home that is not yours, again, you go to jail. These illegals have broken into our country and we pay their medical bills, give them our social security (our children will not have SS when they are old enough to retire), give them food stamps and housing subsidies. Many of our senior citizens have to decide whether to buy food or refill their prescriptions; maybe they should become Mexican citizens and sneak back across the border; they would be treated much better as illegal immigrants. Every illegal should be sent back to their country and submit the necessary paperwork to come here legally if they want to live here. The reason there are so many here is because they know how easy it is to stay here, the government will give you free food, free housing, free money. They get jobs and send the money back to their relatives at home. They have given new meaning to “America, the home of the free.” They have to think we are the biggest dummies on earth.

Illegal status in this country is outrageous. No matter how much compassion we may have for the people or children, it is time to return all illegals to their country of origin and enforce the laws we already have. Let them legally apply for immigation status and guest worker program before returning. And during the time they are proving citizenship requirements they would not be eligible for any government social welfare program. The money they earn here should be spent to help the economy of the US not their native country. Money leaving the US inapproprately should defintely be thwarted with high fees.

This is fine as far as it goes regarding transfers by LEGAL immigrants. Any potential should, however, include a provision forbidding ANY financial institution from accepting an order for any money transfer from anyone who does not possess valid identification. These institutions should further be required to maintain a copy of such identification which could be audited.

Make it a felony to be here illegally or to aid those that are here illegally. In addition, identify, biometrically, all those detained by ICE. If they cannot produce documentation that they are here legally then they will be immediately deported and they will never, at any time in the future, be permitted to become a legal citizen.
This would have everyone serious about citizenship running for the border. There wouldn’t be any need to worry about the 12 million that are talked about. This action would be self policing.

When you charge a fee for an illegal act or a legal act committed by one who is living in an illegal status, you express an implied approval of their actions. We don’t need new laws associated with an invasion of our borders, we need leaders, who are willing to keep their oath of office to uphold the laws and the Constitution of the United states.
Many have fallen into the trap of calling this invasive group of people, who stole their way into our country, immigrants. They are not immigrants. To say you have an illegal immigrant is an oxymoron. Immigration is a LEGAL method of a person of one country being processed for acceptance as a citizen of another. The people we have illegally living in our land are not our friends, they are the enemy. If someone sneaked into your home, slept in your bed, ate from your food, wore your clothes, and charged their medical bills to your credit card; how would you feel about such a person? Someone in our family works in law enforcement along a state border. Many, many times he comes upon illegals crossing into the state he works in. Calling the higher ups does no good. He’s been told that there just isn’t enough manpower to pick these illegals up. Consequently, they go on their merry way.
We need to secure our borders. The Minutemen are doing their best thru donations to do this since our govt has been stalling in providing the funds appropriated.

There are lots of laws on the books to discourage illegals. Enforce all of them. Charge fees for illegals whenever possible. We need to recoup the money we’re spending on them. I’d like to see a law passed that illegals’ children do NOT become citizens just because they’re born here. Require them to show documentation that their children they’re enrolling in school are legally in this country. Allow cities/owners to require documentation before renting an apartment or house to illegals. Enforce employment laws. Enforce laws to get criminals back home but requiring them to prove legal status as soon as they’re stopped or arrested, etc.

The flaw in this plan is using a valid credit card as one of the criteria to avoid the fee. You have the BofA actively courting illegal aliens to give them credit cards. Additionally, I’d rather we just enforced the laws on the books and deport the illegal aliens. Any city that decides it’s a Sanctuary City for illegal aliens should be immediately denied direct federal monies and any state that allows a sanctuary city within it’s borders should also be denied federal funds until the city begins enforcing the law.

Fee’s , What a Joke! If the Government will quit giving FREE Grants, Social Security, Welfare, Food Stamps, Medical, school and everything else, that would have Illegals leaving like they are coming over. There will be no rounding up they will leave on their own!!!You must have an Legal state Id, SS card and bill from your area to put a child in school, where I live so I am to assume that the schools are just as guilty and should also be fined from the principals pockets. Also Fine or put any business that puts an Illegal to work with a $100,000 per person and double every fine there after. 4th Fine Close the doors, no questions asked. All the money collected in fines would go to Border Patrol and the money saved from our Sweat is left for us in the SS.!
As far as the prison system do like Arizona, they grow their own food and live like our Troops!If the men and women who fight for our rights can live in a tent, why can’t the idoits that break our laws? Make it hard and humaliting enough and they will think twice. Why should we the tax payers, pay for them to set up in a cool dry place with all meals provided with cable Tv!!!????

Follow Newt’s “drill here, drill now, Pay less” You have some RINO’s that have voted against drilling. They have to be redirected or defeated in a primary. These fuel prices are killing retirees.

I think it is a great idea to take back some of the money they send to Mexico for their families and help us here who are legal citizens with our families cost. They are taking jobs that can be used by our people and that money can be used to train our people in the jobs the big companies are taking away from Americans they say aren’t trained to do the work.

Sounds good to me at first; however upon second thought, I don’t like the idea of developing a financal system of revenues tied to leagally acknowledging illegals in any way or manner. It does not take long before anyone benefitting from such a penalty charge will grow to defend the source of the income, even if it originates from an illegal practice. Corruption Corrupts!

I agree with Sandy. It would cost more than you would collect. Another government bureaucracy would be created, with higher wages and much more liberal benefits than most of the tax paying citizens receive, in order to process collections- if there were any. If they are identifiable, arrest them and deport them. You could hold whatever money they had as “shipping fees”.

I don’t like using the term, “undocumented person”. Call the illegal immigrant what he is. By illegally entering this country the first act he performs in our country is to commit a crime so call them a criminal. There are several approaches to the illegal immigration problem. The most effective way to seriously reduce the problem is to start prosecuting the employer with heavy fines and some jail time when they are discovered employing illegal entrants. When there is no job to go to, they will return home on their own and save our government the expense of deporting them.
Until about 1955 or 1956 police officers had the authority and indeed the government paid $25 each to their department for the apprehension and detaining of illegal entrants. The charge was simply “Hold for Immigration.” Every month immigration agents came in and took them into custody. Then the order came down that we were not to enforce immigration laws. It was strictly a federal government task.
It is not necessary to pay a bounty to police officers, they are sworn to uphold the laws of the land including federal laws. They still capture bank robers an federal fugitives. For what ever reason they have been prevented from enforcing immigration laws. The order preventing them from performing a duty should be rescinded and allow them to do their job.
Neither is it necessary to start a concentrated roundup of twelve to twenty million illegals although it is not an impossibility. Because of poor economic conditions in the mid 1950’s the government formed a immigration task force called “operation wetback” and started energetically deporting illegal immigrants. Something like two million were rounded up and deported. The word was out and much of the problem of illegal immigration ended until we relaxed again. The real point is this. Once the unlawful entrants realize we are serious about this, the problem will take care of itself. They will voluntarily return to their homes.
It is claimed that the National Guards presence along the southern border has been effective in reducing the number of illegals for the past year. In August they are scheduled to be removed from that duty, some objecting that it is not something the national guard should be doing.
Just what is the National Guard supposed to do if it is not to defend our borders?
The so called fence will help but it is not the answer. End the jobs and the problem is solved.

In order to purchase a money order, I would be forced to produce a passport, a VISA or MasterCard, which I must prove is legal, or a driver’s license, which some states give to illegal immigrants or a verifiable Social Security card, which I guess I must prove is legal. All of this just to send a money order to relatives overseas? Sorry, love the concept, but the execution just doesn’t work for me.

I understand your logic in attempting to recover some of the unpaid taxes and welfare benefits that were not paid for.
However, this might be viewed by the government as another potential form of tax, thus , more government spending
money. The government is resistent to eliminating illegal aliens now. They would probably make less effort to remove
illegal aliens in order to tap into this new abundance of funding.

Go after the companies that hire illegals. If there are no jobs available for illegals, they will stop coming. Charging on illegals making money transfers (the actual $ transfers are not illegal) will bring in some money and may offset some of the towns’ and cities’ expenses howver, these people should be deported. The legal immigration procedures should be overhauled so that it doesn’t take an act of Congress (figure of speech) to become a citizen. Anyone entering this country illegelly should be deported immediately. The USA does half ____ job on enforcing its borders.

DEPORT & DRILL should be the Republican slogan for victory in ‘08. Deport illegals, drill for our on own oil. The good Lord blessed this country with natural resources for a reason. The discovery of gold in the 1800’s provided capital to build this great nation and it’s infrastructure, and our oil resources are available to facilatate it’s operation. Not using God given resources seems blasfamous(sp) to me.

If anyone is known to be an illegal immigrant, they should be taken right back to Mexico. Anyone hiring them should have to pay such a high fine that they wouldn’t hire any more. If these people aren’t going to have a job, they will go back home. They shouldn’t get any welfare or any kind of free services. Mexico is taking advantage of us by sending their people over here so they don’t have the responsibility for them. If they can’t afford to eat, they should quit having kids. No one over here is doing enough to get rid of them.

The solution is simple. Pass laws that making hiring undocumented workers not worth the risk. No welfare for them no benefits of any kind. If they do the crime let them do the time before taking them to the border. and for the others fix it where they have to learn English.

I agree with the comment, that the first line of defense against illegals is to not allow them to stay for any reason, simply because they broke the law. But, government is what it is, it’s never as simple as we the people think it should be, so having a law that will cost illegals who send money back, essentially taxing them is something I would agree to. Although, holding ICE and all local and national officials accountable with real consequences for allowing illegals to stay should be at the top.

I think charging fee’s to money orders and wire transfers would be a good start and they should be made to learn english. I am appalled by all the signs and labels that are printed in spanish at almost every store these day’s. I think it encourages illegals not to adapt. I think they should also have to pay taxes and have to work. I think they should not be elligble for welfare or food stamps. It is very upsetting for me to do my grocery shopping and have a obviously foreign person in the lane in front of me with a cart overflowing with things I can’t afford for my own family present a food stamp card to pay for it. They should be held responsible for support of their families. They should be required to keep insurance on their auto’s and obey our laws like the rest of us. If they can not or will not apply to the same rules we have to live by they should be deported. It is so hard for working americans to keep our homes and keep our bills paid we should not be burdened by extra taxes to support foreigners who want to live here.

I would vote for the tax and calling ICE. They could require a name and address when when the money transfer is purchased and report this info to ICE. Since it seems that nearly all of them line up to send money to their relatives, it would be a slam dunk way to find and deport them.

That is a great idea. It reqires a commercial establishment to become an arm of the police or ICE. Also the business owner would lose income. This would no doubt lead to black market money transfers e.g. the business kowner would charge exhorbitant fees for illegal money transfers. Better yet would be a law that requires a social security/drivers license number to be appended to the personal information required to send a money transfer. The processing would validate the transaction (or refuse) automatically and flag the name address etcetra of the sender to ICE. Or to local law enforcement.

From January 2007 through April 2007 I processed Individual Income Tax Returns from a store front located in Miami Beach, Florida. I only processed approximately 70 returns. I sat in an Ace cash express store for 4 months watching the illegial immigrants comming in and out to cash thier checks and send money to whereever. Of the surronding stores, approximately 50, 10 stores had customer service people who spoke english. Of my 70 clients whom I did thier tax returns, only 20 spoke Fluent(?) english. I have learned to communicate using other things then words and was able to communicate with each client effeciently.
Of the people that entered the store and that I met during my four month experience, only 10 percent knew that they even had to file an income tax return (some did not even know what it was).
I don’t know the solution.
All I know is what I saw and experienced.
Just thought I’d add my imput.
AT LEAST TAX THEM ON THEIR WIRE TRANSFERS.

why can’t we just fine anyone or company $25,000 for each illegal that is given a drivers license, or sells a vehicle to them,or sells them a house,or rents them a house or apartment,or has children of illegals in any school in this country, or has them working at their place of bussiness anywhere in this country. no excuses. but the government has to freeze assets of the guilty parties and take the fine from their bank accounts. i bet good money that you would see these illegals haulig their butts out of this country, but they can only leave with the clothes on thrir back. if the aclu or any body else like that wants to try to stop this from happening then their citizenship as an american is taken from them and they have to leave the us right away. they would be given a choice of which country they would go live in,it would be either iran or north korea. i bet they would be complying with the law really quick. get these illegals the hell out of this country now, any politician that was pro illegal would also be patrolling the border under the supervision of the minutemen and we would also have the national guard along the border using humvees bradleys and m1 tanks and if need be they would also have any air support needed. now quit screwing around and get the job done now!!!

I’d certainly would charge illegal aliens a fee and take other steps to make it difficult for them to remain in our country. Also, I would not allow the children of illegal ailens to automatically become American citizens. I feel that the 14th Amendment that allows children born in America to become citizens to apply only to citiznes of this country and not illegal aliens.

I think we should offer Mexico a deal.
Since borders don’t matter to them why don’t we offer to accept a certain percentage of their population in exchange for a matching percentage of their land mass. At least then they would have an incentive to improve the miserable conditions in their country before US stretches far enough south to have possession of their oil fields.

Require all individuals reqesting credit prove citizenship, not matter what type of credit they want. If they cannot prove citizenship, then HLS would aut. be notified for deportation. I have worked for many many years in social services and the vast amount of fraud coused by illegals would amaze most people. I am a beliver in making sure all who want social services should be American, if your not than you should NOT receive any of our tax dollars

Fee is too low. The average taxpayer would be paying 15% - 35% on the wages besides Social Security. Besides these are ILLEGAL immigrants, the key here ILLEGAL, and should be encouraged to return to there country and if so desire to obtain legal status as immigrant or citizen. If employers were held accountable for employment of illegals and perhaps a 50% fee on all monetary transactions without proper documentation of Legal status then I seriously doubt any would want to stay.

Pass a law that fines all companies including those insured by the FDIC that participate in wiring funds out of the country by illegal aliens. Any institution responsible for paying the fine would be forced to take funds from its shareholders’ profits, and would have to answer to the shareholders. In order to prevent this embarassment, most companies and institutions would choose to fire employees who committed this offense. It is unlikely most people would take the risk of losing their jobs and would be more careful assessing proper documentation on customers.

I agree with both SANDY and VAADMAN, the originator of the solution. To Sandy: Vaadman didn’t say the Illegal was standing in line in front of him. But, if he were standing in front of ME (or in back of me), I’d let him pay the extra fee for his money order or wire transfer, THEN call I ICE.
I’m told by my local Sheriff’s department that ICE doesn’t always want to come pick the Illegals up after they’ve been arrested by the Local Sheriff’s department. Let’s get what money we CAN out of the Illegals WHEN we can just in case ICE doesn’t want to be bothered with that “tacky little problem”

Interesting approach, but I think it places the retailers of these instruments in a dangerous position. These people don’t make that much as it is and the additional fees will, to them, seem pecuniary. Expect a lot of emotional backlash if this is placed into practice.

Another complex and most likely unworkable solution. Another requirement on a business to increase the cost of doing businnss. The fair tax would tax all illegals when they purchase goods and services. The Fair Tax would replace the IRS which would be reduced the size of government.

In a democracy all ideas should be discussed, with all the laws on the books it’s hard to believe
that we need to “round up ILLEGALS” for the most part. Authorities from police on up to our judges pick and choose what laws are to be followed or they rewrite the exisiting laws for their own beliefs. The you have congress who could easily pass a new immigration bill if only they would use “common sense”, keep it simple.

The people in the government . . . in both major parties . . . are talking us to death while the country slowly bleeds. Forgive me for stating the obvious, but, if we do NOT have CONTROL over our own borders, we do not have any control over our own COUNTRY. Anyone who has been keeping track of this issue knows that there is abundant documentation and testimony, from alternative news sources, that members of the Mexican military have crossed into American territory on numerous occasions while HELPING drug smugglers. There is now a full-fledged civil war in Mexico between the Constitutionally-elected government of Mexico, and the paramilitary forces of drug cartels that are making war on that government. Dozens of American citizens have been kidnapped . . . . some have been murdered, some are still missing . . . . years after their capture. The MSM in this country, for the most part, is virtually DEVOID of any reporting on this issue. WHY? WHY? WHY?

The Supreme court of the United States has usurped the Commander and Chief of the U.S.Military by declairing Terrorists/Enemy combatants, those even caught on battle fields as having the same legal rights as Citizens!
The Congress can correct this fuzzy leftist thinking by declaring they define them as not having the same legal rights as Citizens and that the Supreme court erred in that decision and it is null and void as law! Further that they Congress will be the defining body for that area of law and they give that authority to the Commander and Chief.

First they should deport all illegals. If you stop the welfare, jobs, free medical most of them will go home on their own. I admit some of them come here to feed their families. A lot of their criminal element come here because they can commit crimes here and get away with it. They are arrested, told to report for court date and released. They never show up. They change their names, get new fake ID and continue. They couldn’t get away with that in Mexico so they come here.
Then the mortgage companies should have to keep and maintain all those houses they sold to people who they knew couldn’t afford them. Many illegals. They mortgage companies should have to keep those homes until they are sold for what is owed on them or burn them down and sell the land. That would take care of all the foreclosures that are making our homes worthless.
And none of this will happen because it was a well devised plan by the elites of the world to turn America and Canada into a third world country and enslave us. The NAU. Canadians and Americans are fighting this. The Mexicans want it because their leaders have convinced them they are fighting for lands that belong to them. They actually think they are going to take over several states. Our government tells us of it’s compassion for these illegals. How much compassion does it take to work people all day picking tomatoes for $10 a day or worse yet paying them by the amount they pick, causing them to work far longer and harder than should be allowed. Americans have fought and sometimes died for decent wages and safer working conditions and now Mexico pimps out it’s people to America so they can send billions of dollars to their home country. We are Mexico’s second highest source of income. Money that is received here and does not go back into our economy.
Again, all this is planned and when the NAU is accomplished we , Canadians and Meixcans will be slaves. We will all be working for slaves wages. There are a lot of people who don’t know about the NAU, some who hide their heads in the sand and say it can’t happen or it won’t happen. IT IS HAPPENING. Spread the word or we are doomed.

It is an ok idead but I am still struggling with the term illegal, benefits and rights all being used in the sentence. If we are not going to treat this as someone actuallbreaking our laws we need to change the rterm and quit spending hundreds of millions of dollars trying to keep people out. If we do want to protect our borders lets get serious about it and quit using it as a political football and inforce the laws on the books. It all seams so simple to me.
